TDS is proud to present Dr. Bruce Durie, accomplished author, broadcaster, lecturer and an expert on Genealogy

Dr Bruce Durie instigated (and ran until 2011) the renowned Professional Postgraduate Genealogical Studies program at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, where he is now an Honorary Fellow and is developing a full-time one-year Masters and a Doctoral program. He also teaches at the University of Edinburgh (courses on Genealogy and Documents).

Best known for his books and BBC Radio Scotland series ‘Digging Up Your Roots’, he is also Shennachie (Historian, Genealogist and Archivist) to the Chief of Durie and to COSCA, and was recently elected to the prestigious Académie Internationale de Généalogie (the only member from Scotland).

Dr. Durie has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Scottish Studies Fellowship, and will be researching Lowland Scots migration to the Carolinas, and teaching classes on Scottish Genealogy, Culture and History at St Andrews University, Laurinburg, North Carolina, from January to August 2016. We are honored to have him as part of our 6th annual celebration.

Dr Durie will be providing talks on genealogy in the new Heritage Tent on Sat. April 2 at TDS.
